So Canon just released its new HDSLR camera EOS 7D with all of its glory. Multiple frame rates (24p,30p,60p..) and full HD 1080p. It has S35 sized sensor which is close to 35mm film (not still) camera sensor. This is a big improvement on HDSLR for independent filmmakers. A dream piece of equipment that is capable in lowlight and light weight.
Canon has delivered the first batch (body only) and people are rushing to buy one. I have been wanting a HDSLR for a while since the 5D Mark II came out, then the Panasonic GH1… but I didn’t make any move yet, I was kinda waiting for something else coming out with better feature. This 7D isn’t much better than 5D Mark II but it has features that a filmmaker like myself would find very useful. I have put in a pre-order on Amazon 2 weeks or so ago… so we’ll see what it really promises when we got one… Meanwhile, check out this beautiful short shot with this camera:
