Multiple frame rates (24p,30p,60p..) and full HD 1080p. It has S35 sized sensor which is close to 35mm film (not still) camera sensor. This is a big improvement on HDSLR for independent filmmakers. A dream piece of equipment that is capable in lowlight and light weight.

Canon has delivered the first batch (body only) and people are rushing to buy one. I have been wanting a HDSLR for a while since the 5D Mark II came out, then the Panasonic GH1… but I didn’t make any move yet, I was kinda waiting for something else coming out with better feature. This 7D isn’t much better than 5D Mark II but it has features that a filmmaker like myself would find very useful. I have put in a pre-order on Amazon 2 weeks or so ago… so we’ll see what it really promises when we got one… Meanwhile, check out this beautiful short shot with this camera:
